Leave the Spa With Golden Tinged Skin (Literally)
At the start of every new year day spas around the world try to outdo each other with new treatments ranging from the outlandish, see my previous post on tequila soaked cactus petals, to the most innovative to the most grandeur. While most of us sit idly by and merely read about these glamorous exhibitions where clients bathe in tubs of Dom Perignon there are a few fortunate and irrational souls that drown their money down the champagne clogged drain. If you’re like me, a tension relieving hour long massage for $75 is all I need to remind myself why I keep on going back to day spas. We don’t need the extravagance, the gems and the bottles of bubbly to know why our backs and necks feel splendid after a spa treatment. We are the ones who will only keep reading about these over the top treatments and never experience them. At least we can say that we are practical. However, for those who wish to dream of the creme de la creme here are a few spa treatments that will make you feel like a million bucks, while perhaps paying the same amount.
The Evian Bath at Spa V in the Hotel Victor, South Beach, Florida: For $5,000 you can bathe in 1,000 bottles of pure Evian water sprinkled with rose petals. Better yet, if you are thirsty, there’s not far to go.
24 Karat Treatment at the Four Seasons George V, Paris: Forget lavender lotion and scented sprays, these treatments use the golden touch in a facial and a massage. You will even sip tea made from gold-left wrapped bags to ensure that you feel as wealthy as you truly are.
The Dream Girl Massage, Spa on Location, Santa Monica California: The saying, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend” certainly rings true with this treatment. A massage therapist will sprinkle the glittery gems on your back where they will work their curative powers, just don’t pocket any or you might end up with a different kind of massage in the county jail.
