LiveSpa Says LiveWell
For those of you wondering what good a tub of mud can do for your skin or what cucumbers can do for the dark circles and bags under your eyes, there is the new LiveSpa Magazine who will introduce you to all of the spa benefits, both the mainstream and the bizarre. More recently, spas have been trying to appeal to the everyday Joe and the average person who might venture away from the day spa for fear of being kneaded with a tequila-soaked cactus paddle or slip into a squishy, stinking pit of mud. According to the International Spa Association more people have been frequenting spas in the recent years, including men and teenagers. Spas are perhaps letting go of their pretentious image-in the past they have seemingly catered to only the affluent, older women of the world. The question is: with the incorporation of their new publication, will spas be able to spark an interest in not only looking good-by decreasing wrinkles and painting nails-but also in feeling good in what they purport to be a new “quest for health?”
As an avid spa-goer I am somewhat relieved that spas are taking steps away from the overly luxurious reputation that they have touted over the years. If there is one thing that I cannot stand it is a whiny, aging woman wielding a black American Express card and demanding that her wrinkles be promptly removed by use of the $80 dollar tube of anti-aging cream. Instead, LiveSpa looks to reiterate the importance of a simple, healthy lifestyle for people of all ages. Perhaps…in the future years, because of greater knowledge of how to live healthy and well while we are younger we will see less of demanding old rich people intent on overpaying for a useless tube of anti-wrinkle cream.
